Hi all!

I'm currently working on piece of science fiction for my creative writing degree.
Hi all!
I'm currently working on piece of science fiction for my creative writing degree. Put briefly, a mutation has caused various species of fungi to grow and spread very quickly - food and perishables rot quickly, mould infests houses overnight, ecosystems are heavily disrupted.
It would be great to include slime moulds in this piece as the intelligent behaviour they display would translate very well when amplified like the fungi. But, I'm also aware that slime moulds are not fungi in the slightest.
Are there any mechanisms by which slime moulds would grow or spread more rapidly when more fungi are present? Would it be as simple as saying "there's more slime moulds because there's more fungi for them to eat"?
Thanks very much!
Any related hobbies?tag:slimoco.ning.com,2019-11-03:3917201:Topic:466002019-11-03T21:05:54.043ZEvan Brownhttp://slimoco.ning.com/profile/EvanBrown

I myself am fascinated mainly by the ability of some organisms to store away a spark of life for later. As esoteric as that sounds. I raise triops, sea monkeys, yeasts(lost most of them), and fungi, in addition to collecting seeds and spores. Essentially I collect spores, molds, and fungi. My interests are incredibly broad though and I have more hobbies than I need, but hey, it's fun. Actually I've been working on starting a gourmet culinary mushroom business with my now Fiancée. So does anyone else do anything they think is interesting and want to share?
