The Slime Mould Collective

An international network of/for intelligent organisms

I was watching The Creeping Garden yesterday and going through my old cultures ( perfectly normal middle aged, middle class thing to do on a Thursday night ) and I found a map I set up two months ago. Oats digested long ago, physarum apparently starved to death ( or possibly just left the petri dish and is somewhere loose in room ).

I found this thing - for scale, that's an oat it's wrapped over at the top. Totally the wrong colour for physarum, I'm wondering if a few spores from another species somehow found their way in ( I don't sterilise anything ) or bacteria are growing on of the old tubes - no smell though.

I fed it an oat this morning and I'll see what happens. Would be kind of nice if another species has adopted me.
