From two small pieces of Flowering dogwood tree bark, 22 fruiting bodies of C. violacea have emerged being kept in moist chamber culture. The one shown however, is quite unusual from the rest for its peridium appears to be translucent allowing one to see inside where the capillitial elements and spore mass should be. There is a vague trace or hint of the capillitial elements and maybe some spores but not as much as that exhibited by the other fruit bodies being present. Just below, unfortunately in the shadows, at 5 o'clock or thereabouts, is what I consider to be a normal fruit body or sporangium.
