I'd hoped that immersion in water would improve the optics for visualizing flow through the plasmodial network in Physarum. It does, but it also strongly (if transiently) disrupts the contraction cycle and flow.

This time-lapse video shows the response when a small part of the network was immersed in tap water (at 0 sec on the counter; ~1/6th of the way into the movie). For more information, see a new project page on my science wiki: http://igor.wikidot.com/projects:physarum-sensation

Have other people seen and investigated this response? Be curious if anyone knows of papers discussing it.

Thanks for taking a look, and for your comments!
