<p>Alcohol might evaporate a bit quick but a moat is a good idea, testing different liquids could be an experiment. I've been printing maze stencils & microscope coverslip holders for watching slimes in the lab. For simple shapes you can get away with just taking a 2d drawing and extruding it which is really quick to do. </p>
