The paper describing Elaeomyxa reticulospora states that it is 'apparently very rare' and known only from the type locality in Java, Indonesia where it is found in association with moss.
I have found it every year since I started collecting in northern Tasmania. It is always associated with leaf litter, either on the ground or on leaves and twigs that have fallen on old logs.
