What is your interest in slime moulds? (we need to know you're not a bot or spamster)

I am a secondary school science teacher. I would like to introduce my students to the fascinating ways that cells and organisms communicate. It is important for them to experience how sophisticated slime molds and their processes can be. I did my graduate school research on fungi, and while a different kingdom equally sophiscated and fascinating.
