I have a jar of panellus stipticus that halted growing all of a sudden, which usually happens when a jar is contaminated.I had nothing to lose so i chucked a slime in there and a week later the jar…Continue

I'm wanting to just maybe make an internet master list of what foods you've found these plasmodiums to like, and what they didn't like so muchI'm doing this in part with maybe some experimenting to…Continue

Can I keep my one physarum polycephalum endlessly if I were to grow him to his dish fully, and inoculate another dish with a part of his self and tons of oats and then repeat that process?Another…Continue

"Just growing for now, was thinking maybe the slime got rid of some contaminate in the jar allowing the mush to thrive. panellus stipticus takes forever to grow though so we wont probably see the slime glowing for a week or two I have a couple of…"

"Growing or glowing? ;) My last Pan stip failed. It's a dream of mine to one day take the luminescence pathway out of Panellus and shove it into a slime mould :)"

I have a jar of panellus stipticus that halted growing all of a sudden, which usually happens when a jar is contaminated.I had nothing to lose so i chucked a slime in there and a week later the jar is growing again, and the slime is stringy all throughout ~half the jar (still looking alive) so I'm guessing somehow it jump started the jar to grow again.gonna be doing this a couple more times just wanted to make a postSee More

"Very true about the rotting wood being optimal, it made me think of another thought.  In mycology its pretty known that if you forage a wild, say, oyster mushroom, plate it and grow it out yourself, 9/10 times it is insanely aggressive. …"

"Hi,for P. polycephalum I found that if I boil up whole oats briefly (about 10-20 seconds is enough) and let this cool was the favourite, maybe because they absorb a little more water in the process? Tesco cheap and cheerful oats and Waitrose organic…"

What foods have you found slime molds to like?

I'm wanting to just maybe make an internet master list of what foods you've found these plasmodiums to like, and what they didn't like so muchI'm doing this in part with maybe some experimenting to find food sources that really ramp them up speed wise and getting an early list of what works/doesn't work can save me some timeSo far I've only done the old-fashioned old fashioned oats and also tried whole oats which they didn't care for so much but they weren't fully cookedSee More

"Nice thanks for the answers!  It makes sense that they'd just make a large circle if everything around them is just food!  By 10% powdered egg, what's the other 90%?  Or is 10% like just how you buy it I've never heard…"
