Physarum Maze

We have been trying to conduct a maze experiment with our Physarum. The maze is made out of acetate. We originally wanted to connect the 20 pieces of physarum in the maze and then feed it. However, we have not been able to connect the pieces of physarum without it escaping the maze first.

Is there a way we can improve our maze? Or is there a better way to conduct the experiment.
