oats pattern

It choose one way to the oats. But I don't know why, also the weather is so dry, I need watering it frequently.

Hi 

They tend to strike out at random, head to the first food source they encounter and grow from there. Things can get interesting when you starting giving them a variety of foods with varying quality - eg. 1% oat jelly vs 10% then they have an opportunity to compare and decide. If you give them more of a distance to travel they'll try a few directions before they commit.

A few more layers of paper helps on the hydration side when it's dry
