On December 23rd, 2018 a moist chamber culture was prepared from the bark of a Flowering dogwood from my front lawn. Usually I never get a chance to see the plasmodia occurring in these cultures, I can only assume that most are aphaneroplasmodia and therefore extremely cryptic. However in the past 10 days a plasmodium has been produced in a second moist chamber and of course I am delighted in its appearance. Will it produce fruiting bodies? Only time will determine that. For now its appearance and continued welfare will be enough to keep me entertained.
