Looking for topics to do research on

As part of my highschool seminary paper I want to do research on slime molds, specifically Physarum polycephalum however I haven’t decided on a specific topic yet.

Do you have any suggestions?

We know they can sense dissolved substances and use chemotaxis, but can they smell?

no they can not if I am right they use receptors that can "feel" when there is a now kindeoff smell or substance close so they can follow where it came from... I dont know if im 100% right so please tell me if im wrong
