Hi, I've recently had a go at finding and identifying some slime moulds, to get more than just didymium and physarum. I found a plasmodium covering a roughly metre - long log in the New Forest, near where I live in the UK. I got a sample, took it home, grew it and starved it so it would sporulate. The resulting sporangia were a colourful iridescent blueish black (i will add a few photos below). Following 'The Myxomycetes of Britain and Ireland' by Bruce Ing, I believe it's badhamia dubia or possibly badhamia capsulifera. However, there are some features like the darker colour that don't match. Here's some more information: Calcium salts are present, I measured the spores to be 16 micrometres (take that with a grain of salt though as i compared the image with one of a cheap 0.1mm ruler at the same magnification), the spores have short hairs, the spores are black with a slight purple tint in mass. Let me know if you need any more information. Thanks.
Edit: After looking through some pictures on https://www.myxotropic.org, I'm now thinking it looks more like a diachea or paradiachea species, though no uk native species match. Looks quite a bit like diachea syncarpa.
