Shortest path?

This is so much fun. I think I was very generous with the oats so I have a fat and vey fitness conscious slime mould. I say that because it was growing fast , but away from the food! Don’t know what it was reaching for! I am quite curious to see how it figures out the shortest path ( or does it?) it’s a problem even AI cannot solve- the classic travelling salesman problem in Mathematics which I studied long ago in operation research .
I hope my little yellow friends can do it! Now I want to draw inspiration from them for art.
