The Slime Mould Collective

An international network of/for intelligent organisms

Hi,

I am new to Physarum Polycephalum. I see in most agar plates, we put oats. I was wondering if any kind of agar plate can grow Live Physarum polycephalum without oats? Especially some prepared ones I can purchase online.

I prefer not using oats because I am interested in its shape in a free-growing condition. Putting oats will influence the shape since the slime mold pursues the nutrient. If any preferred nutrient is mixed with the agar evenly, I guess the problem is solved.

Thanks a lot!
