The agar is just made up with water - no nutrients. I let the agar set then put paper on top and spray it. You could try setting paper into the agar, it might make a more stable substrate. I don't have problems with mould over 7 days but I also don't provide much food for them
p.s. I'm wanting my timelapses to be about 5-7 days long. Agar in a pitri dish does well, same with agar in a plastic container, but paper always dries out fast, often gets moldy quicker too.
thanks. So... is it that Agar helps give Moldi-buddies moisture along with a little bit of sustenance? I'm aiming to make nice clear time-lapses on something like a darker paper, but without agar, it dries out super fast, and I'd like to avoid having to spritz it with water during capture. Would black cartridge paper on top of agar work well enough? Would it be best to set the paper ontop of it while Agar is still hardening, so there's a little soak through?
That's straight on filter paper - about six layers. For analysing movement 'properly' I use filter or cartridge paper over 2‰ agar - gives you a nice stable background for computer magic
It's super into that good good bread
It's beautiful... Just beautiful.
Were you shooting with Agar? Or straight on some filter paper?
